> inicolabug is now involved in the creation and development of intelligent electronic music in rome / italy > he is recording for the catalogue of wonders and now STIRPE999 ¬ DOWN BELOW YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE FIRST REMIX OF breaking bad (IMPROVVISO #1) ~
digital artwork by wassily blossfeldt 2010 >
> STIRPE999 is an independent label born in 2003 in rome, as a direct consequence of the artistic band "FIRE AT WORK" ~ "FIRE AT WORK" is a group of electronic experimental music that moves and gave its first steps at the end of the nineties and grows fast at imposing itself on the international underground scene, spring as a point of reference the production, diffusion and promotion of independent electronic music. rhythmical and sound experimentation, research of a new musical language, outside the logic of entertainment and capable or provoking positive reactions, and field works, criticism and conception. of these prerrogatives starts the experience of "FIRE AT WORK" that in ten years concretised in numerous productions for international and italian labels and a long series of internationla tours (europa, japan, central and latin america) > STIIRPE999 is the natural development of this adventure. since 2003 there is a fighting territory for artists of all world to create a common need and will of communication and culture, free and accessible to all the consciences that only violating the perimeter of official culture one can create music and not being a victim of recording consummerism.
the world is full of masks and any one of us exists within masks camouflaging passions and loves, terrors and fears – some live in the world through art, the so-called artists. strange breed of people that dare and insist in creating not only their own masks but that share them with the world, outside themselves. the masks become objects or art, art become mainstream and gallops around the ether of our imaginations in random fashions and exploding in other masks and devious excellent new worlds. moreover there are artists that construct, build, erect and exhibit those masks, literally. they inhabit a beautiful mythical paradise, minotaurs of experiment taken out of the ruined reality, simulacra and apotheosis, excesis of things past translated to the present – inicolabug is one of them. just follow the links, the signs and signals and you find another brave territory, urging you to go out, be yourselves, create and participate in communal performances, noise creation, canvas to be filled with smiles and images propelled by sounds, and masks > >>
>>> electronic music is in decay, i am informed. the charts are filled with music that is produced on the electrons of kraftwerk and stockhausen, nevertheless it is not called electronic music because is vacant, shallow, pop to the lips and singalong and colourful mtv videos with curvaceous young ladies dancing on their bikinis and the spectacled gentlemen dressing in furs and bling. anachronism as it is, it is not electronic music. the guitars abound as well in the charts, after the boom of electronic pop in the eighties and nineties, guitars are kings and queens of our age, once again, fashionable and belonging to the memorabilia and nostalgia of the past, unoriginal, lacking stamina and adventure. the originalists have left the planet, or are underground tunnelling their experiments in small raves in roman ruins, using/abusing tradition and history to infiltrate and subvert ancient rituals. this is electronic music, a scent of electrons spiralling in caves and woods, neutrons controlled within keyboards, compressors and strange but beautiful handmade pieces of art/electronica. inicolabug is one of them, professional by day, transgressor of normality by night. follow the leads and you will find his work pilfering abstract tones, manipulating atoms of noise and transfiguring anathemas into pieces of soundart, that is electronic music >
>> nicola alparone aka inicolabug aka mikrosound, is an electronic music producer, following a new kind of music, a new kind of rhythm and sound from outer space, he wrote on an email, not from outer space but from rome, the eternal city. he may call his work ‘from outer space’, but his tracks are very earthly and matter of fact, circuits and controls, microbeats, glitchy bugs crawling on one’s skin and transforming the brain into strong synapses of rhythm, joy and new experiences. he added: my cyber word is full of strange sounds and can be chilly or really, really hard. so the mask is not destroyed at all, but on the contrary, starts being built slowly – the intention is to get out and be shared – via electronic music, hacking the internet and spaces, a pirate of sound. operating the consoles inicolabug transfers past images, forgotten already, past sounds and the new techno-logies into the reality of the present, hard, currogated, harsh, benevolent, humorous, over the top – that’s electronic music. more words from nicola: i don’t like to lock music inside a genre, i prefer to jump definitions and just make music more unusual and as fresh as i can. that’s electronic music: monolake, venetian snares, richard devine, alva noto, frenk breschiner, biosphere, autechre, murcof, edit, vex'd, matmos, tim exile... >

>>> listen to ‘breaking bad’, for instance. the collection of samples take us to the past, but it is used with humour and clarity, robotic, chaotic, brutal. no melody. akusmatika with stamina. toys of joy. incorrect / correct – you choose. this music is freedom, liberating and open to interpretation, much more if you do not like it at all, because in its own fashion it is adventurous. aphex twin may have liberated the machines into wild realms, inicolabug apprehends it once again and disposes of it in organised lines of beauty. you can take fragments of ‘breaking bad’ and from them made new tunes and remix your own thoughts, that’s electronic music, unimposed, free and shareable. whether mister alparone did it on purpose or not, ‘breaking bad’ is like a piece of the lost avant-garde, namely of pierre schaffer that called his own music ‘concrete’, “developed his tape fragments with contrapuntal intensity – playing them backward, speeding them up, slowing them down, slicing off the attack, or turning them into loops” (page 369, the rest is noise, alex ross.) nicola does it perfectly on ‘geek glitch’, an exercise in modern electronic music comparable to pierre henry, the electronic music or noise of john cage. because this music is not rational in the usual term of the word. it is constructed, manipulated, produced, arranged, played with intention, but it goes further than that – it brings myths of the irrational of noise, the primordial fear and pleasure. as john cage wrote: any attempt to exclude the ‘irrational’ is irrational. any composing strategy which is wholly ‘rational’ is irrational in extreme. mister alparone, in ‘geek glitch’ uses a paraphernalia of tricks that do not conform, it seems that there is no compromise at all in pleasing crowds, except the ones with an intimate concern with experiment sound as multimedia brain ecstasy. a sound brings a story of tones and relevant imagery (that sometimes we never knew we knew!) ‘geek glitch’ intersects the above dictum of pierre schaffer, loops, distensions, miniaturas, micro sound elevating from the background to produce silences and breaks, without concessions to a premeditated longing or analysis of the composition as per se, there are no values to be confronted with, it is free for consideration, to be felt, to be experienced. one day all music will be like this > modern, the music of mister alparone, no doubt. ‘junk food’ is a delicious satire in the shape of electronic music. gastro music. teleological abstractions, narrative landscape of morton subotnick proportions, minimalist and expressionist – no guilt here – sculptured sound ¬
> what do they say about breaking bad (improvviso #1)? ¬ listen now if you so wish >
9th of august 2010 > inicolabug > so i very apreciated the remix, it gives a new rythm with diferent sounds and moviments - yeah!!!!! > Nic TVG (soundcloud) > nice! this one's a builder :) > phirnis (soundcloud) > beautiful blend of sounds! Always been a huge fan of hand claps, by the way. lately I've been re-listening to some vintage autechre records (stopped listening to their newest output a couple of years ago) and to a certain extent this track reminds me of some of their ever-evolving rhythmic work. it's great fun listening to this, as you never can tell what's going to come next. 10th of august 2010 > bipolarbeats (soundcloud)> AGREED! I COULDNT HAVE PUT IT BETTER MYSELF VERY INTERESTING SOUNDS .:)
