~ poesis:

'the time i've spent dreaming -

years and years of my life!

ah, how much of my past

was only the false life

of a future i imagined'

[fernando pessoa, 29 august 1914]

'fables against gravity', 'micro-phonetics #1' and 'materia prima' are serendipitous compilations put together almost by chance and contains some moments of ulterior beauty and are replenished with high quality melodies and sounds. they represent since day one the spirit of the catalogue of wonders: independence, will, altruism, curiosity, difference, all mixed up with d.i.y. philosophy and search for new adventures in sound. they represent also the new unheard voices from around the world that are making interesting and odd works in the sound medium. above all these compilations are about collaboration and investigation. in POESIS (cata19) some of the catalogue of wonders artists join hands and bravura to build an entire album of precious moments filled with soundscapes of unusual beauty.

POESIS is poetry, POESIS is to do. for the first time in these compilations we have a cover of one of the gymnopedies by monsieur erik satie. in paris jonathan cotterell was playing on an old pianola, not tuned and cranky, and he was playing the little gem very slowly, repeating some of the passages of the composition. the tape was rolling so it made all the sense in placing it amongst the other completed tracks for the album. it made the whole gel together into a seemless continuum. i was told that POESIS sounds like a 'this mortal coil' album without the vocals. well, if that it is so we are very glad about it, even if it wasn't intentional. the catalogue of wonders is about these incidents and not supposed to be things.
